Biking is for Fat People Too!

OK, now what? Having never done this before, I'm not sure what to do next. What if I spend time doing this and NOBODY even reads it? Oh well.....What do I have to lose?
I want to start with a little about myself. I'll keep it short for the time being.
I'm 48 years old and "morbidly obese", which for the most part, has never overly bothered me, but 1 year ago (almost to the day), I lost my job. Then it became a problem. I couldn't get hired. I had 30 years of experience as a Critical Care/Emergency Room R.N., but no one wanted to take the risk of hiring an overweight potential "Time Bomb". My phone interviews went extremely well, but once I interviewed in person...."Thank you, we'll be in touch" is what I'd hear.
So after several months of the same, I felt motivated to do something. I wanted to become more active, healthier, and maybe even lose some weight. But where to begin? I really hate exercising. I knew that I wasn't disciplined enough for a gym, Curves, or anything that required me to get in the car and go somewhere. I've tried at home exercise equipment, and the only thing they were good for was stubbing my toes and using as a clothes rack. As for exercise videos (like Richard Simmons) the most exercise I got was from dialing the phone to order them. (though I must say that I did feel healthier just watching them)
So what's left? Walking? Too boring. Swimming? Hmmmm.... Oh I forgot. No pool. Well....I used to enjoy riding a bike. My husband rides a bike. Maybe we could ride together. But where can I find a bike to support my 345 pounds? Never fear, Google is Here! So in searching the Internet for "Bikes for Fat People", I found Super Sized Cycles (http://www.supersizedcycles.com/) Oh my goodness! Not only did they have a bike for my weight, but they have bikes that will support up to 55o lbs.! That's it, I'm going to ride a bike. Hey, no membership fees, no travelling to another facility, no boredom!
I get in touch with Joan Denizot, owner of Super Size Cycles, and she helps me pick which bike would be best for me. Bike vs. Trike, Upright vs. Reclining, Pedal Power vs. Motor Assist, 3 Speed vs. 10, and yes, she even helped me chose a color!
After eagerly awaiting the arrival of my bike, (they are made to order and take several weeks for delivery), my BRIGHT YELLOW bike arrives!
It was mostly assembled, but not being very handy, I took it to our local bike shop, Gattos (http://www.gattocycle.com/) to finish the assembly.
So finally, I get to sit on my bike. My first reaction? What a comfy seat!!!
Wide enough to plant my super wide fanny upon it comfortably. Awesome! Now I'm ready for my first bike ride in 30 years...Will I still remember how to ride a bike?

Come back again and I'll let you know......
